The main character named Jo March is greatly tired of the depiction of women. She wants nothing more than to become an author without worrying about the restrictions of gender and her expectations as a woman. Especially, with an aunt who enforces the importance of getting married. Thus, this source is useful and helpful towards the topic of my project because of its emphasis upon the heaviness surrounding gender.

Betsy Bozdech does a great job at pinpointing elements of film that are gender role orientated. The article is useful to my project because of the detailed overview of how films tend to capture women in a terrible light. She elaborates upon a series of movies even outside of Disney with an in-depth amount of information that directs the viewers eye towards a perception that misconstrues a woman’s image.

Women have been overshadowed for a number of generations and are speaking out against the constant consistency of gender roles. This article is useful and helpful towards my project because it shows how women are viewed in film based on gender. Since, Wonder Woman is a woman she is rather acknowledged for her beauty. It suggests how other female superheroes are more praised for their unbelievable amount of strength and hope.

The author really examines the concept of gender roles in film and how it has impacted them in today’s society. Especially, when it comes to the importance of equality in pay towards both men and women in films. Even though, many women are working hard to provide an equal amount of opportunity to everyone there are still some things we could work on. This article is helpful towards my project because it shows how prevalent for women getting roles in films and how they are perceived amongst a demographic.
5. Mayer, G. (2018). RBG Biopic ‘On The Basis of Sex’ Rules on Gender Roles . 5.
On the Basis of Sex is a great movie that explores a case where a man was wrongly scrutinized for taking care of his someone in his family. When it was supposedly the job of a woman and wouldn’t provide the man with the finances he deserved. This source is helpful towards my project because of the restrictions that were placed on them. When it comes to Ruth Bader Ginsburg finding work as a lawyer was already difficult enough being that she was a woman in “a man’s world”. It’s useful because it shows how hard she fought for justice towards gender equality.
