My final project is to spread awareness of the femicide happening in Latin countries. So many women have been targeted, raped, beaten, murdered, and the government has not done anything. In contrast, their government sadly sometimes plays a role in the disappearing and injustice happening.
- This is a documentary of a mother fighting for the death of her daughter. The murder joined a cartel and has been fleeing different areas of Mexico and once they had the guilty in custody he was let free. This relates to my topic because she marched on the streets, other women joined her, and she was murder on camera in front of an important place in the city.
- My second source is about the marching women and how the police used force. Killing a few of them. This relates to my topic because this was a recent event that caused the death of 10 women who were just fighting for all women to be protected under the government.
- This source is about women having trouble speaking out or getting help during the pandemic from domestic violence. This is important to my topic because there is no government assistance during the lockdown.
- This source is about the relationship between femicide and the drug cartels near the border. It’s no secret that not only are drugs being trafficking but women also including little girls. Or when innocent people cross the border they’re forced to smuggle drugs along with the coyotes.
- This source is about the killing of many women in Guatemala. This relates to my topic because this is a cause of femicide. This is helpful because my focus was on the killing happening in Latin countries. I don’t only want it to be in Mexico.
