Queen of the south, the main character Teresa Mendoza fits the role of power and multiple identities. I admired this show because it idolized a women as the main character and she was reaching her way up to be one of the most biggest drug lords in Colombia and in the states. Within the show, her role played both masculine and feminine. This is not usually seen because most shows use men to play the scary boss or the person who “calls the shots”. Instead, the main character who is a women has several identities where she’s nurturing, heartwarming and then switches to be very violent (Killing, fighting off enemies, stealing, handling illegal drugs/money). Mendoza uses her power to get her cartel swarming throughout the country, she becomes a multimillionaire who helps out her family who’s less fortunate. This creates a lot of hate and completion against her because she’s a women and she’s overtaking a male dominate field.
