How to Write a Post

These are the steps on how to write a post. Learning these steps will be necessary in order to succeed in this class.

  1. Be sure you are logged in on the Commons website.
  2. Once, you are logged in, head over to our Intro to Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies website.
  3. Then you can select your class day, and time. (Our class is on Tuesdays at 5:05pm).
  4. In the upper left corner of the screen, you will see +New on a black bar with drop down options that say Post, Media, Document.
  5. Select +New, then select Post.
    • If you do not see +New, then you are not added to the site.
    • You can find a link to the class website in the announcements section on our blackboard page.
    • Once you are there the left side of the page will display a white bar that says the class assignments/readings. Under that bar there is a button that says JOIN THIS SITE. Click that Button. Then you will be able to create new posts.
    • Posts can be customized in many ways. You can use different text colors, italics, or even underline things.
    • All posts need to have an image.
    • You can add a category for the post. For example, I selected Assignments, and Blog Post 1.
  6. To add an image, you must click Document on the right side of the screen.
  7. Then select featured image, and it says set featured image. Once you click set featured image then you will be able to browse your computer for images.
  8. Once you have selected an image, then you can publish your post.
  9. The Publish button is on the upper right side of the screen. It is next to the settings logo.
