“The Master’s Tools Will Never Dismantle the Master’s House” is the collection of essays explores which explores Audre Lorde’s experiences as a “black, lesbian mother” and how these aspects of her identity intersect in the white patriarchy in a way that withdraw legitimate status of black, female and lesbian experiences. She portrays emotion as both a tool for empowerment and self-expression.

In the speech, Lorde seems to be saying that we have to stop thinking about power in patriarchal terms, and start thinking of power in terms of women supporting each other. Until women have the security of knowing that they will be supported by other women, women will not be able to achieve true equality.
