Research Summary

When beginning this project, I had not any ideas of what topic I could surround my project around but with listening and interacting with the conversations that we would have in class, I decided to conduct my research project on women’s gender and identity and the effects that culture and society has on them. When it comes to women’s gender and identity, society is the number one thing that plays a role in creating stereotypes of women no matter what age the are about what size they should, how they act, how they should dress, and how they should even be living their day to day life. The pressure of what society deems a woman to be has been so damaging to many women all over the world and it shows as they begin to question their self worth and what they are even meant to do in life. Another major player to making women feel this way is men and they have been doing it for years now. As they see women as individuals who should stay home and cook for the family or even being able to express their wants and needs because it is always “What do you know? You’re a women” and sexist phrases like that have sadly so many women and it is something that needs to change. That is why in my research I also included an article on feminist and where they stand when it comes to speaking out and doing something in order to make a change and we come to find that they are women who chose to barely speak about these issues and identify with feminist and then there are women who are full out feminist and will continue to fight for women’s rights until society and men decided to change their ways. I believe that my argument is important because this is an issue that women of all ages have and even women come after us will continue to face and it is completely absurd why the female gender has to fight for years on end just to be treated as human beings with the same respect that is given to men.

  1. Hi Cassie,
this is a really great topic and I love how you explained your thoughts. I agree, society puts so much pressure on women, and it’s so stressful. I did my project on the glass ceiling and the research makes me feel the same as this, “…it is completely absurd why the female gender has to fight for years on end just to be treated as human beings with the same respect that is given to men.”
