This post includes some of the different sources that will be used to examine Domestic Violence in Bangladesh/south Asia

Provoked is a British drama film based on a true biographical account that tells the story of Kiranjit Ahluwalia, who killed her abusive husband after going through years of sexual abuse and domestic violence. The story is starred by Aishwarya Rai, Naveen Andrew, Miranda Richardson and Robbie Coltrane. This story brings up the question of how one talks about domestic violence within a community and household and what the dynamics of power imbalances are in a south asian household. Provoked is directed by Jag Mundra who diligently explores the role of masculinity and the systematic oppression happening with women. Furthermore, the devastating pain they go through silently when they can’t find any solution and can’t escape from the situation by taking awful action which is ending up in a very horrific situation where an individual had to face a dilemma in life. It does relate to my topic because through this movie directors tried to portray how the south asia society exists systematic oppression against women and the violent life events that many women experience. This movie which is based on a true story can clearly explain how inhuman acts men in the society do with women and they don’t have that option to come out or overcome the situation to handle it.

This report highlights the status of Domestic Violence in Bangladesh. This report suggests the seriousness of how Domestic Violence is endemic in Bangladesh and the specific barriers to legal recourse women face in the country. It does relate to my topic because through this report it clearly proves and portrays how the south asia society exists systematic oppression against women and the violent life events that many women experience. This article  which is based on a true story can clearly explain how inhuman acts men can do  in the society with women and intimate partners who she trust in her own home threw nitric acid at her face and husband watched with his companions and necklace and earrings melted into her skin. This is an awful and horrific example of a violation of human rights.

The purpose of this literature review is to organize and synthesize the empirical evidence on spousal violence against women in Bangladesh and to provide direction for both researchers and practitioners for future work in this area. The review suggests that spousal violence against women is high Bangladesh.Although domestic violence, particularly violence perpetrated by husbands, is the most common violence against women in Bangladesh. Available data indicate strong associations between violence by intimate partners and physical health of women.

This paper provides an account of women’s experiences with domestic violence in Bangladesh and develops illustrations on coping with abuse. The paper provides an intersectional approach to public-health and gender studies. Spousal violence raises the question of how to address this issue, if a critical theory approach does not allow for the liberation of women, and explores public health responses that have garnered a different approach to empowering women and protecting them from violence and abuse. 

This report portrays violence against is definitely a global public health problem which is violating women’s basic rights, much less opportunity to participate in society and biggest consequences in terms of health and well being. Global and regional estimates of violence against women: prevalence and health effects of intimate partner violence and non-partner sexual violence was published by the world health organization, London School of hygene &tropical medicine, and South Africa medical research council. It includes the systematic reviews of evidence on intimate partner violence ,WHO’s Department of Health Statistics and Information Systems, for their careful review of the data and methods for the estimations. This report particularly analyzes all the data provided which is the summary of the violent life events that many women experience.
